Cherry Tomatoes in my Kitchen Garden

A couple of months ago ,  I got some tomato seeds from market and spread them in my kitchen garden.

They started growing after a while. I was eager to harvest regular sized tomatoes but i was amazed to find several small bunches of 4-5 small tomatoes coming out all over the garden.

I thought they will grow to regular size, but i was skeptical. Then one day they started becoming ripe (i.e red in colour).

I took the help of Google Lens to find out they were actually something called Cherry Tomato.

The cherry tomato is a type of small round tomato believed to be an intermediate genetic admixture between wild currant-type tomatoes and domesticated garden tomatoes.

Cherry tomatoes range in size from a thumb tip up to the size of a golf ball, and can range from spherical to slightly oblong in shape.

Although usually red, other colours such as yellow, green, and black also exist. Those shaped like an oblong share characteristics with plum tomatoes and are known as grape tomatoes.

The cherry tomato is regarded as a botanical variety of the cultivated berry, Solanum lycopersicum var. cerasiforme.

Now that I know what they are , I am planning to collect their seeds  and sow them in some planned manner the next season.

Tell me , are these useful compared to regular tomato ? Or , great only for ornamental purposes ?
